A Tuscan Twilight: Alex and Diletta’s Engagement

A romantic stroll through the heart of Tuscany

When we think of Italy, images of sun-kissed vineyards, rolling hills, and charming towns often come to mind. It was in this enchanting setting, amidst the iconic Tuscan countryside, that we had the privilege of capturing Alex and Diletta’s engagement.

As the sun began its descent, casting a warm glow across the Val d’Orcia, we joined Alex and Diletta for a leisurely stroll through the vineyards. The air was filled with the sweet scent of pine and the distant chirping of crickets, creating a truly idyllic atmosphere. As we wandered along the winding paths, surrounded by towering cypress trees and breathtaking views, it was clear that this was a place where love was meant to bloom.

Diletta looked absolutely radiant in her flowing red dress, her laughter echoing through the hills as she and Alex shared sweet moments and inside jokes. The love between them was palpable, and it was an absolute joy to document their affection for one another.

As the day drew to a close, we found a secluded spot overlooking the valley. With the setting sun as our backdrop, Alex got down on one knee and presented Diletta with the most stunning engagement ring. Her eyes lit up with joy as she said “yes,” and we captured the moment as they embraced, surrounded by the beauty of the Tuscan countryside.

The golden hour light bathed the couple in a warm glow, creating a truly magical atmosphere. As we continued our photoshoot, we explored the vineyards, capturing their love story against the backdrop of the Tuscan hills. Each image tells a story of love, laughter, and adventure, and we are so grateful to have been a part of their special day.

Capturing May and Alex’s Love Story

Tuscan Engagement. As a destination wedding photographer based in the heart of Tuscany, we’ve had the privilege of witnessing countless love stories unfold amidst the picturesque landscapes of Italy. But few moments have been as heartwarming and picturesque as the engagement of May and Alex, an American couple who chose the enchanting shores of Lake Bolsena to mark their special milestone.

Nestled between the borders of Tuscany, Umbria, and Lazio, Lake Bolsena is a hidden gem that exudes tranquility and romance. Its shimmering waters, surrounded by rolling hills and verdant vineyards, provided the perfect backdrop for May and Alex’s engagement shoot.

From the moment we met May and Alex, we were struck by their genuine love and excitement for their future together. Their infectious joy was palpable as we explored the lakeside, capturing candid moments of their laughter, shared glances, and tender embraces.

The couple’s love story began in the bustling streets of PHILADELPHIA , where their paths crossed amidst the city’s vibrant energy. Despite their different backgrounds, they quickly found a connection that transcended cultural boundaries. Their shared love for adventure and their appreciation for the finer things in life drew them closer, eventually leading them to plan a romantic getaway to Tuscany.

As they strolled along the lake’s edge, hand in hand, May and Alex recounted their journey together, sharing stories of their first date, their favorite memories, and their dreams for the future. Their words were filled with love, admiration, and a deep sense of gratitude for the path that had brought them together.

VENICE

Engagement session in Venice

Oh yes! This is definitely one of those sessions I wanted to share with you!

There is no city in the world that can be compared to this Italian gem. Everything is just stunning, amazing, beautiful, romantic and this list goes on and on.

If you are in Venice for a real proposal that you are planning, an engagement session that you want to have in an incredible city or simply for a romantic getaway with your partner, you should really think about hiring a photographer to make this event everlasting. 

Just like our amazing couple did. D & M came from San Francisco and Devan wanted to surprise his girlfriend and contacted us for this incredible engagement photoshoot in Venice.

We started quite early in the morning at the Grand Canal, then took a private boat to discover the lagoon, accompanying this journey with some delicious Prosecco from the region and in the evening a romantic walk in the city center,

Ending our journey in The APEROL TERRAZZA in Venice. ( curiosity: did you know that the famous and delicious SPRITZ  is from here? )

As I said before the beauty of this city is simply indescribable, if you have never seen it you must, and if you have already been there planning a romantic trip again is always a fantastic idea, but this time don’t forget to hire a photographer to make it last forever.

Most beautiful churches in Rome

Destination wedding in Rome : CHURCHES

If you are about to start planning your wedding in Rome and looking for a beautiful church this blog is definitely for you!

However there are some things to consider before choosing the  ONE:
• the location of the church:
If we are talking about a destination wedding most probably you are going to be in charge to organize the transportation for your guests. While it is not something impossible to handle it is surely a thing to consider as Rome is a crowded and busy city and the schedule of a wedding day is important. Find a church which is easy to arrive to with shuttle , Uber , taxi and has parking place too to make sure they can wait till the end of the ceremony. And of course keep in mind the distance from and to the venue of the reception.
• the size of the church
Bigger the church is more floral arrangement needed. This can be an important part if you are strict with the budget.
• the architecture and the history of the church
There are different churches in Rome and a lifetime is just not enough to see them all. But at least if you have an idea of what kind of church you like more is already a great starting point. Many church in Rome are famous because great artists like Michelangelo, Bernini, Raffaello etc has their statues and painting exposed inside them. Than of course one of the most important question… do you like more the really long aisle for the walking down or prefer to opt for a shorter one?
• the luminosity of the church
For us wedding photographers this is the most (I mean MOST) important issue. Some church (as we are going to show you just in a second) has incredible light coming through their stained glass allowing us to take some amazing shit like a painting without using the flash. Even if I personally love using flash during the ceremony it is something I prefer to avoid to not disturb the holy mess and your prayers.

Now let’s see some of our favourite churches (PT 1)

ST Peter’s basilica

This is one of the holiest for Christendom and one of the largest church in the world. The construction of the basilica began in 1506 and was finished in 1626. Inside you can find the famous artworks of Bramante, Michelangelo , Carlo Maderno, Bernini.
I know now this can sound a dream come true, it is actually possible to get married here! Inside St. Peter there is one chapel for a legal marriage, called Cappella del Coro.
Things to consider before say Yes : the tourists. If you are planning to tie the knot during the summer you are going to have many curious eyes fixed on you accompanied with a lot of greetings and storm of clapping. But as we see already it is such an insignificant price to pay for such an incredible experience for you and your guests. Most importantly make sure to contact them in time , a last minute wedding can be really hard to organize here if your heart is set on this breathtaking church.

San Pietro in Montorio

This church is a real hidden gem. Located in of the most beautiful corners of Rome, on the top of the hill of gianicolo. It overlooks on the stupendous panorama of Ancient Rome and stands on the site where according to history the apostle Peter was crucified on the cross upside down.on this exact point was built the beautiful temple of Bramante which represents the church particularity and which contains very rich art treasures.
This church has a capacity of 150 seats inside (and a large car park).
As san Pietro in Montorio in great demand for wedding celebrations make sure to contact them at least a year before your wedding.

Basilica Santi Giovanni e Paolo

Now let’s be honest for a second here: if you are looking for a magical, fairy tale wedding ceremony this church can definitely be the ONE , and even if it is enormous there are no need for many floral arrangement as it is already so decorated.
This spectacular and imposing basilica is suitable for large wedding celebrations as well.

It is also called as a Church of the Chandeliers due to the number of chandeliers inside, which accompanied by the spectacular light effects enhance the coffers ceiling of the basilica. Just jaw dropping.

Rome, sweet Rome, the city of love and romance.

If you are looking for the perfect place to propose to your significant other, look no further. We have some excellent ideas for you, whether you are planning to ask your loved one with a breathtaking view or you prefer to do it during dinner in one of the most beautiful and exclusive places in Rome. We got you covered.

The St. Regis Rome

This luxurious 5-star hotel in Rome is truly a perfect place for a romantic proposal. Introduced to Rome society in 1894, the architecturally iconic St. Regis hotel is located in one of the city’s most important palazzos. Blending a noble heritage with fearless, elegant interiors, this grand dame has been transformed into a supremely luxurious and artful residence. And obviously, this hotel’s restaurant offers nothing less than excellence. If you want to add a touch of glamour to your proposal, you can even jump in for their champagne sabering ceremony, which is a signature event in their evening ritual series at 7 pm. Just be sure to make a reservation!

Fontana di Trevi

OK, this is a tricky one, so bear with me. Fontana di Trevi is one of the most crowded places in the world, but it will definitely be worth it. The fountain’s fame is due in part to the many films that featured it, including La dolce vita, Angels & Demons, Roman Holiday, and many more. The almost 30-meter-high Trevi Fountain was built against the back of Palazzo Poli, designed by Bernini for Pope Clement XII.

Here’s the tricky part: the timing! I know the proposal has to remain a secret, so it can be hard to manage to get there with your fiancé at sunrise (but definitely no later than 7:30 AM). However, this place as a backdrop for your romantic proposal in Rome is truly unique, special, and simply perfect. A photographer can even secretly follow you, making this moment everlasting for you.

The other option (which might be easier and less suspicious) is to pop the question at night, maybe after a romantic dinner in the city center. Surely you’ll find it less crowded, and with its night lights it’s just as spectacular as it is during the day. The only thing to keep in mind is to avoid Friday and Saturday nights, as Rome has a very vibrant nightlife on those days.

Giardino degli Aranci

This place is magical! If you are looking for a place with a gorgeous and breathtaking view of the city of Rome, this park might be the one. Situated on the top of Aventine Hill, from where you can admire the city from above, but what makes it even more special is the view of St. Peter’s. We would definitely recommend visiting it for this special occasion during sunset time, it really is worth it.

As this park is open to the public, you can go there whenever you want, however you have to be prepared to not being alone and there is a possibility that your romantic proposal will be followed by a storm of applause. Let’s look on the bright side, though: to make this occasion even more special, you can hire a photographer who could secretly follow you to capture this moment for you and make it last forever. There are so many places to remain unseen.

Here are some tips for visiting the Giardino degli Aranci:

• Visit during sunset. The views are simply breathtaking at that time of day.

• Hire a photographer. This is a great way to capture the moment and make it last forever.

• Be prepared for crowds. The park is popular, so there is a chance that you will not be alone.

• Choose a quiet spot. There are many secluded spots in the park where you can propose without being disturbed.

PROPOSAL IN ROME

We’ve never ever met a bride so stress free like Lulu. First time we have met this fantastic couple was 3 months before their wedding which can actually seem a bit last minute.

They were so calm from the beginning and during the wedding planning as the only thing matter to the really was to get married. As I said it was kind of a last minute planning we had to do their engagement session fast and  even their lovely dog took part of. We have chosen the shore of the lake for this special occasion and as you can see on the photos the sunset was nothing less than breathtaking helping us to creat something really special.

As they opted to get married in a church and as Marco is a soldier of the Italian army he was wearing his uniform for the ceremony and Lulu has chosen a gorgeous detachable wedding dress which left everyone speechless. For her bridal portrait session we have chosen one of the most important and beautiful avenue in Rome via Veneto, and should I say that traffic has stopped and everyone was congratulating for this special occasion.

After the ceremony what was held by a military priest it was time for the couple portrait session and as we were really close to we went to fori imperiali and again the sunset was amazing and they were all the time so relaxed and happy allowing us to taking a bit more time for this shooting.

For the reception we were heading in one of the most important villas in Rome at Villa macchia madama which has an outstanding view on the city of Rome and even if everyone has arrived after sunset the guests were really appreciating the gorgeous view and exquisite aperitivo (and than dinner) from one of the most famous catering of Rome.
